The owner is the Bishop of Lichfield and the tenant is Charles Bates junior with land at Plot 9.

The owner is Thomas Phillips and he works the land himself together with Plots 22 and 23.

Samuel Butler 1774 – 1839 was headmaster of Shrewesbury School and Bishop of Lichfield, so at this early date many of the houses were owned by the Diocese of Litchfield and rented out.

The original cottage was built some-time between 1820 and 1837, as the 1837 Tithe map shows that the house was definitely built by then. However I think that this was an earlier building than the one present today, as the House Deeds mention a dwelling being recently demolished in 1901.
PLOT 33
William Gardner owned plots 32, 33, 33a, 34, 35, 36, 38, 39, 40, 41 and 42, with Offley Hay Farm occupying Plot 33. The Tithe maps show the field names of Offley Hay Farm and their usage. The farm is a typical self sufficient mixed farm of the time.

James Hitchin owns the house on Plot 37 and works the land on Plot 37a himself.
